\"how-to-install-groupoffice-an-enterprise-crm-and-collaboration-tool-on-debian-7-wheezy\"<\/a>In the following article we are going to install Group Office<\/a>, an enterprise CRM and collaboration tool on a Debian VPS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Group Office VPS<\/a> will help you share projects, calendars, tasks, files and e-mail online with co-workers and clients.<\/p>\n

If you are starting with a minimal Debian 7 VPS<\/a>, then you need to set-up and install LAMP Stack<\/a> on your server<\/strong> before proceeding any further with this article. If you’re starting with our LAMP Stack based Debian VPS<\/a>, then you can proceed with the installation of Group Office<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

First thing to do is to login to your VPS via SSH using some SSH Client like putty<\/code> for example or use your terminal application.<\/p>\n

Once logged in, fire up a screen<\/code> session by executing:<\/p>\n

screen -U -S goffice<\/pre>\n
and make sure your Debian VPS<\/strong> is fully up-to-date by running:<\/p>\n
apt-get update\r\napt-get upgrade<\/pre>\n
Next thing to do is to set-up a database for Group Office. Do this by running the following commands:<\/p>\n
mysql -u root -p<\/pre>\n
create database groupofficeDB;\r\ngrant all on groupofficeDB.* to groupoffice@localhost identified by 'MySecurePass';\r\n\\q<\/pre>\n
once the database is created, navigate to your webserver’s document root, download Group Office sources from http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/group-office\/files\/latest\/download<\/a> and install the software. We do this by running the following commands:<\/p>\n
cd \/var\/www\/\r\nwget http:\/\/downloads.sourceforge.net\/project\/group-office\/5.0\/groupoffice-com-5.0.9.tar.gz -O groupoffice.tar.gz\r\ntar -zxvf groupoffice.tar.gz\r\nrm -f groupoffice.tar.gz\r\nmv groupoffice-com-5.0.9 groupoffice\r\nchown www-data: -R groupoffice\/<\/pre>\n
before proceeding with Group Office installation, there are some packages which need to be installed on the VPS for best Group Office experience.<\/p>\n
apt-get install libwbxml2-utils tnef php5-mcrypt php5-pspell zip<\/pre>\n
with all this in place, navigate to http:\/\/yourdomain.com\/groupoffice\/install<\/a><\/code> to set-up and install Group Office.<\/p>\n
when prompted to create a config.php<\/code> file, do this by executing:<\/p>\n
touch \/var\/www\/groupoffice\/config.php\r\nchown www-data: -R \/var\/www\/groupoffice\/<\/pre>\n
next, create protected directory for storage somewhere outside of the document root. \/home\/groupoffice<\/code> is fine place.<\/p>\n
mkdir \/home\/groupoffice\r\nchown www-data: \/home\/groupoffice<\/pre>\n
and complete your Group Office installation by following the on-screen instructions.<\/p>\n
