Additionally, replace &#8216;root&#8217; with the username of the admin account if necessary.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Before starting, you have to make sure that all Ubuntu OS packages installed on the server are up to date. You can do this by running the following commands:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">apt-get update -y\r\napt-get upgrade -y<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-install-and-configure-php-opcache-with-apache\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Install-and-Configure-PHP-OPcache-with-Apache\"><\/span>Install and Configure PHP OPcache with Apache<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In this section, we will show you how to install PHP OPcache and enable it for the Apache web server.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-install-apache-and-php\">Install Apache and PHP<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>First, you will need to install Apache, PHP, and other PHP extensions to your server. You can install them with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php php php-cli php-opcache php-mysql php-zip php-gd php-mbstring php-curl php-xml -y<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once all the packages are installed, verify the PHP version with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">php -version<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You should get the following output:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">PHP 7.4.3 (cli) (built: Oct  6 2020 15:47:56) ( NTS )\r\nCopyright (c) The PHP Group\r\nZend Engine v3.4.0, Copyright (c) Zend Technologies\r\n    with Zend OPcache v7.4.3, Copyright (c), by Zend Technologies\r\n<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-configure-opcache\">Configure OPcache<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, you will need to enable the PHP OPcache by editing php.ini file.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">nano \/etc\/php\/7.4\/apache2\/php.ini<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Uncomment the following lines:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">opcache.enable=1\r\nopcache.memory_consumption=128\r\nopcache.max_accelerated_files=10000\r\nopcache.revalidate_freq=200\r\n<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Save and close the file then restart Apache service to apply the changes:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">systemctl restart apache2<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You can now verify the PHP OPcache installation with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">php -i | grep opcache<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You should get the following output:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">\/etc\/php\/7.4\/cli\/conf.d\/10-opcache.ini,\r\nopcache.blacklist_filename =&gt;
