\"pmwiki-logo\"<\/a>PmWiki is a free PHP based wiki system for collaborative creation and maintenance of websites. Its pages look and act like normal web pages, except they have an “Edit” link that makes it easy to modify existing pages and add new pages into the website without knowing any HTML or CSS, just by using basic editing rules. Pages can be edited publicly or by small groups of authors.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This blog article will guide you through the installation of PmWIki on a CentOS 6 VPS.<\/a><\/p>\n

PmWiki has just few requirements that have to be met in order to run on your server:
\n– PHP 4.3 or later (PHP 5+ is recommended)
\n– A web server that can run PHP scripts<\/p>\n

First of all, Log in to your CentOS 6 VPS as user ‘root’ and make sure that all the packages are up to date<\/p>\n

yum -y update<\/pre>\n
Download the latest stable release of PmWiki from their official website<\/a>. At the moment of writing it is version 2.2.26<\/p>\n
wget http:\/\/www.pmwiki.org\/pub\/pmwiki\/pmwiki-latest.zip<\/pre>\n
Unpack the downloaded archive pmwiki-latest.zip in the document root directory on your server.<\/p>\n
unzip pmwiki-latest.zip -d \/var\/www\/html\/<\/pre>\n
If you are not sure what is your document root directory, you can find out by executing<\/p>\n
grep -i \"^documentroot\" \/etc\/httpd\/conf\/httpd.conf\nDocumentRoot \"\/var\/www\/html\"<\/pre>\n
In our case it is ‘var\/www\/html’ which is the default path in CentOS<\/p>\n
This will create a ‘pmwiki-2.2.64’. We will rename this directory to simpler name<\/p>\n
mv \/var\/www\/html\/pmwiki-2.2.64\/ \/var\/www\/html\/pmwiki<\/pre>\n
PmWiki needs to have a writable wiki.d\/ directory<\/p>\n
mkdir \/var\/www\/html\/pmwiki\/wiki.d<\/pre>\n
Change the owner of the PmWiki directory<\/p>\n
chown -R apache: \/var\/www\/html\/pmwiki\/<\/pre>\n
Create a directory index file in the main PmWiki directory.<\/p>\n
cd \/var\/www\/html\/pmwiki\/\nvim index.php\n<?php include('pmwiki.php');<\/pre>\n
PmWiki’s configuration file does not exist by default, but there is a sample configuration file in the ‘\/docs’ directory, so we will use that file.<\/p>\n
cp docs\/sample-config.php local\/config.php<\/pre>\n
