Our VPSes come with root access included):<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">ssh root@IP_Address -p Port_number<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to replace \u2018IP_Address\u2019 and \u2018Port_number\u2019 with the actual IP address of your server and the SSH service port. The default SSH port is 22.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Run the following commands to make sure that all installed packages on your Ubuntu 20.04 VPS are updated to their latest available versions:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">apt-get update -y &amp;&amp; apt-get upgrade -y<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-install-necessary-dependencies\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Install-Necessary-Dependencies\"><\/span>Install Necessary Dependencies<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, you will need to install all necessary dependencies including, Node,js and Python in your server. So you will need to install the PostgreSQL to your server. Run the following command to install the PostgreSQL server.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">apt-get install postgresql -y<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once the PostgreSQL is installed, log in to PostgreSQL and create an Odoo user with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">su - postgres\r\ncreateuser --createdb --username postgres --no-createrole --no-superuser --pwprompt odoo15\r\npsql\r\nALTER USER odoo15 WITH SUPERUSER;<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, exit from the PostgreSQL with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">\\q\r\nexit<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-install-and-configure-odoo-15\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Install-and-Configure-Odoo-15\"><\/span>Install and Configure Odoo 15<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>First, create an Odoo user with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">useradd -m -d \/opt\/odoo15 -U -r -s \/bin\/bash odoo15<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, switch the user to Odoo 15 and download the Odoo 15 from the Git repository:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">su - odoo15\r\ngit clone https:\/\/www.github.com\/odoo\/odoo --depth 1 --branch 15.0 \/opt\/odoo15\/odoo<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, exit from the Odoo 15 user and install all required Python dependencies using the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">exit\r\npip3 install -r \/opt\/odoo15\/odoo\/requirements.txt<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, copy the Odoo 15 sample configuration file to the \/etc directory:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">cp \/opt\/odoo15\/odoo\/debian\/odoo.conf \/etc\/odoo.conf<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, edit the Odoo 15 configuration file using your favourite editor:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">nano \/etc\/odoo.conf<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Change the following lines:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">[options]\r\n   ; This is the password that allows database operations:\r\n   admin_passwd = masterpassword\r\n   db_host = False\r\n   db_port = False\r\n   db_user = odoo15\r\n   db_password = False\r\n   xmlrpc_interface = 127.0.0.1\r\n   proxy_mode = True\r\n   addons_path = \/opt\/odoo15\/odoo\/addons\r\n   logfile = \/var\/log\/odoo\/odoo.log<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Save and close the file then set proper ownership to the Odoo 15 configuration file.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">chown odoo15: \/etc\/odoo.conf<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, create a log directory for Odoo 15 and set proper ownership:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">mkdir \/var\/log\/odoo\r\nchown odoo15:root \/var\/log\/odoo<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-create-a-systemd-service-file-for-odoo-15\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Create-a-Systemd-Service-File-for-Odoo-15\"><\/span>Create a Systemd Service File for Odoo 15<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, you will need to create a systemd service file to manage the Odoo 15 service.
