Add System User<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ERPNext will be running under a system user, and we will create one. Let&#8217;s execute this command to add a new system user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code># adduser erpnext<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be prompted to create a password for this user. Ensure you use a strong password. Now, let&#8217;s add the user as a sudoer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code># usermod -aG sudo erpnext<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, let&#8217;s switch to the new user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"># su - erpnext<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-2-install-dependencies\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-2-Install-Dependencies\"><\/span>Step 2. Simply run these commands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo apt install build-essential\n$ sudo apt install git redis-server curl xvfb libfontconfig default-libmysqlclient-dev<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see, Redis is also installed. It is required to cache and improve performance, especially within the Frappe Framework. The Redis server should be up and running once installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-3-install-python\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-3-Install-Python\"><\/span>Step 3. Install Python<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These are the primary packages we need to install. Debian 13 ships with Python 13, which ERPNext supports. Let&#8217;s run this command to install them from the default Debian 13 repository.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo apt install python3-{dev,setuptools,pip,venv}<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-4-install-node-js\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-4-Install-NodeJs\"><\/span>Step 4. Install Node.Js<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ERPNext requires NodeJS runtime environment and npm. In this step, we will install Node.js and npm through the Node.js repository to obtain the latest version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ curl -sL https:\/\/deb.nodesource.com\/setup_lts.x | sudo -E bash -<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Once completed, we need to download the package information from the newly added source above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo apt update<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, run the following command to complete the installation of Node.js and NPM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo apt install nodejs<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s it, nodeJS and NPM are installed, you can check the installed version by executing this one-liner:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ node -v; npm -v<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>You will see an output like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>erpnext@erpnext:~$ node -v; npm -v\nv22.16.0\n10.9.2<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>We also need to install yarn. Let&#8217;s install it now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo npm install --global yarn\n$ exit<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-5-install-and-configure-mariadb-server\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-5-Install-and-Configure-MariaDB-Server\"><\/span>Step 5. Install and Configure MariaDB Server<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Debian 13 has MariaDB as the default MySQL database server. Let&#8217;s execute the command below to install it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code># apt install mariadb-server <\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>On a Debian system, the MariaDB server will be running automatically upon installation. Now, let&#8217;s secure the MariaDB server by running the following command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code># mariadb-secure-installation<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the prompts and answer the questions to configure the server according to your preferences. Ensure you use a strong password for the root user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>NOTE: RUNNING ALL PARTS OF THIS SCRIPT IS RECOMMENDED FOR ALL MariaDB\n      SERVERS IN PRODUCTION USE!  PLEASE READ EACH STEP CAREFULLY!\n\nIn order to log into MariaDB to secure it, we'll need the current\npassword for the root user. If you've just installed MariaDB, and\nhaven't set the root password yet, you should just press enter here.\n\nEnter current password for root (enter for none): \nOK, successfully used password, moving on...\n\nSetting the root password or using the unix_socket ensures that nobody\ncan log into the MariaDB root user without the proper authorisation.\n\nYou already have your root account protected, so you can safely answer 'n'.\n\nSwitch to unix_socket authentication &#91;Y\/n] \nEnabled successfully!\nReloading privilege tables..\n ... Success!\n\n\nBy default, a MariaDB installation has an anonymous user, allowing anyone\nto log into MariaDB without having to have a user account created for\nthem.  This is intended only for testing, and to make the installation\ngo a bit smoother.  You should remove them before moving into a\nproduction environment.\n\nRemove anonymous users? &#91;Y\/n] \n ... Success!\n\nNormally, root should only be allowed to connect from 'localhost'.  This\nensures that someone cannot guess at the root password from the network.\n\nDisallow root login remotely? &#91;Y\/n] \n ... Success!\n\nBy default, MariaDB comes with a database named 'test' that anyone can\naccess.  This is also intended only for testing, and should be removed\nbefore moving into a production environment.\n\nRemove test database and access to it? &#91;Y\/n] \n - Dropping test database...\n ... Success!\n - Removing privileges on test database...\n ... Success!\n\nReloading the privilege tables will ensure that all changes made so far\nwill take effect immediately.\n\nReload privilege tables now? &#91;Y\/n] \n ... Install ERPNext<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the initial step, we created a new system user. Now, let&#8217;s switch to that user and run commands to install ERPNext.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code># su - erpnext<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: There is a problem with Python 3.13 and Debian 13; workaround:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo rm \/usr\/lib\/python3.*\/EXTERNALLY-MANAGED<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, let&#8217;s install Frappe<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo pip3 install frappe-bench --break-system-packages<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>It is time to download ERPNext<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ bench init frappe-bench --frappe-branch version-15<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, we can create a website<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ cd frappe-bench\n$ bench new-site yourdomain.com<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensure that you replace &#8216;yourdomain.com&#8217; with your actual domain name, which points to your server. The command above will prompt you for the MySQL root password. You will also create a new administrator password in this step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>&#91;erpnext@rh frappe-bench]$ bench new-site erpnext.rosehosting.com \nMySQL root password: \n\nInstalling frappe...\nUpdating DocTypes for frappe        : &#91;========================================] 100%\nSet Administrator password: \nRe-enter Administrator password: \nUpdating Dashboard for frappe\nerpnext.rosehosting.com: SystemSettings.enable_scheduler is UNSET\n*** Scheduler is disabled ***<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, we can enable the scheduler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ bench --site yourdomain.com enable-scheduler\n$ bench --site yourdomain.com set-maintenance-mode off<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, do not forget to replace &#8216;yourdomain.com&#8217; with your actual domain name that points to your server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next step, once the scheduler is enabled, is to install the ERPNext app:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ bench get-app erpnext --branch version-15\n$ bench --site yourdomain.com install-app erpnext<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 6. ERPNext in Production Mode<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Run these commands to get nginx and supervisord running with ERPNext configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo ln -s `pwd`\/config\/supervisor.conf \/etc\/supervisor\/conf.d\/frappe-bench.conf\n$ sudo ln -s `pwd`\/config\/nginx.conf \/etc\/nginx\/conf.d\/frappe-bench.conf<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, execute these commands<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ bench setup supervisor\n$ bench setup nginx<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we can restart the services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>$ sudo systemctl restart supervisor nginx\n$ sudo supervisorctl start all<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, you should be able to access ERPNext at http:\/\/yourdomain.com.
