ICMP Monitoring

ICMP Monitoring

ICMP or the Internet Control Message Protocol is one of the main protocols of the internet protocol suite which is used by network devices, like routers, to send error messages indicating, for example, that a requested service is not available or that a host or router could not be reached. Using our ICMP monitoring service you can always be in front and find out if your server, services or applications are irresponsive. Benefits when using ICMP monitoring:

  • Fast detection of network outages and protocol failures
  • Increased server and services availability
  • Cost savings

HTTP Monitoring

HTTP or Hypertext Transfer Protocol is a protocol from the application layer which is part of the OSI model. It is a generic and stateless protocol that finds usage in distributed, collaborative and hypermedia information systems. This protocol defines how messages are formatted and transmitted. It also defines what actions web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands. So with our HTTP monitoring service you will be the first to know if your website is down and take immediate measures if needed. Benefits when using HTTP monitoring:

  • Browse monitoring/responsiveness graphs
  • Websites availability check
  • Track past monitoring data

FAQ

How many server monitors can I set up?

You can set up as many server monitors as you want within your plan size. See our pricing page for full details.

What is HTTP monitoring good for?

HTTP: that's perfect for website monitoring. The monitoring system regularly sends requests (which are the same as if a visitor is browsing your website) to the URL and decides if it is up or down depending on the HTTP statuses returned from the website (200-success, 404-not found, etc.).

How long is data maintained?

Data is maintained for a period of 365 days.

What if I need support?

Simply submit a support ticket or initiate an online chat and we will be pleased to help you answer any questions you may have.

What is ICMP monitoring good for?

Ping (ICPM): this is good for monitoring a server. The Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) is one of the main protocols of the internet protocol suite. Ping (ICMP) requests are sent and up/down status is decided according to the "if responses are received or not". Ping is not a good fit for monitoring websites as a website (its IP) can respond to ping requests while it is down (which means that the site is down but the server hosting the site is up)
